The days are hot and it hasn’t rained in weeks. The car of Leon and Felix breaks down and they end up in the holiday house of Felix’ mother. Unexpectedly someone appears: Nadja and her macho fireman Devid. Leon feels not at ease in the middle of nature and in company of people that are practically and socially more skilled than he is.

As the parched forests around them begin to ignite, so do their emotions. Happiness, lust and love; but also jealousies, resentments and tensions. Meanwhile the forests burn. And before long, the flames are there.

Roter Himmel is the new movie of Christian Petzold, known for Barbara, Undine and Phoenix.  Roter Himmel won the prestigious Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at the Berlinale.
