Je bent vanaf 9.30 welkom voor eerst een verrassingsontbijt (vega*) bij Hanno en vervolgens kijk je om 11.00 uur naar de openingsfilm van de allereerste editie van het HERe Film Fest: Everybody Loves Touda. Touda droomt ervan om Sheikha te zijn, een traditionele Marokkaanse performer die zingt over verzet, liefde en emancipatie.

On Saturday, March 8, we’re organizing another wonderful Breakfast & Film event with our neighbors at Hanno. You’re welcome from 9:30 AM for a surprise breakfast (veggie*) at Hanno, followed by the 11:00 AM screening of the opening film of the very first edition of the HERe Film Fest: Everybody Loves Touda. Met Everybody loves Touda vertelt regisseur Nabil Ayouch over de positie van de vrouw in de Marokkaanse maatschappij. Touda droomt ervan om Sheikha te zijn, een traditionele Marokkaanse performer die zingt over verzet, liefde en emancipatie. Ze hoopt daarmee ook op erkenning en een betere toekomst voor haar zoon en zichzelf. Maar vaak verwart het publiek, vooral de mannen, haar performances met avances.
Ayouch laat met een klare filmtaal zien hoe meer en minder subtiel vrouwen klein worden gehouden en hoe moeilijk het masker te dragen is waarachter de zwaarte van verzet toch zo duidelijk voelbaar is. Indrukwekkende acteerprestatie van Nisrin Erradi als Touda.

With Everybody loves Touda, director Nabil Ayouch talks about the position of women in Moroccan society. Touda dreams of being Sheikha, a traditional Moroccan performer who sings about resistance, love and emancipation. She hopes for recognition and also a better future for her son and herself. But often the audience, especially the men, confuse her performances with advances.
Ayouch is quite clear in showing how more and less subtly women are kept small and how difficult it is to wear the mask behind which the gravity of resistance is so clearly palpable. Impressive performance by Nisrin Erradi as Touda.
