The Room Next Door is the new film by Pedro Almodóvar (Hable Con Ella, Todo Sobre Mi Madre, Dolor Y Gloria) with stunning lead roles by Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton. In this intimate drama about getting older, living and dying, the power of friendship takes centre stage.

Ingrid (Julianne Moore) is a successful writer who discovers that an old friend Martha (Tilda Swinton) is ill. They had lost track of each other, but the two immediately find each other again as they reminisce together about the life they used to share. When Martha’s health declines, she asks Ingrid to support her through her self-chosen end. They leave New York and move to a beautiful villa just outside the city. Surrounded by nature and with their shared passion for art and a former love (John Turturro), they celebrate life while they still can.

The Room Next Door premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the prestigious Golden Lion for Best Film. The film is based on the book What Matters by Sigrid Nunez.
