Op de kortste dag van het jaar, 21 december, wordt de Dag van de Korte Film gevierd met de beste korte Nederlandse films van het afgelopen jaar. Met een speciaal filmprogramma trakteren Eye Filmmuseum, NFF en Go Short bioscoopbezoekers op de beste korte films van eigen bodem. Korte film is spannend, veelzijdig en heeft voor iedereen iets te bieden. Ook is het hét medium waarmee jong filmtalent zich als eerste aandient. Toch krijgt korte film vaak weinig tijd op het witte doek. Om meer aandacht te geven aan korte films vieren we al een paar jaar De Dag van de Korte Film, op de kortste dag van het jaar, zowel in Nederland als in diverse Europese landen. Kijkers mogen zich verheugen op films van zeer talentvolle makers!Slechts eenmalig te zien! Alle films zijn Engels gesproken of ondertiteld, of bevatten geen dialoog.

On the shortest day of the year, 21 December, Short Film Day is celebrated with the best Dutch short films of the past year. With a special film programme, Eye Filmmuseum, NFF and Go Short treat cinema-goers to the best short films from their own country. Short films are exciting, versatile and have something to offer everyone. It is also the medium through which young film talent first presents itself. Yet short films often receive little screen time. To give short films more attention, we have been celebrating Short Film Day for a few years now, on the shortest day of the year, both in the Netherlands and in various European countries. Viewers can look forward to films by very talented filmmakers!

Wad is, is nu (Jikke Lesterhuis, 2025) 2′ A sandbar in the Wadden Sea is the site of a remarkable place. An animation about a road house for birds that functions as a food chain. 

Summer Souvenir (Louka Hoogendijk, 2025) 19′ A short coming-of-age drama about Katja (Damaris de Jong), who is fully enjoying a surfing holiday with her friends, until an unexpected situation during paragliding casts a dark shadow over her summer. 

Teken en zie de wereld (Safi Graauw, 2025) 11′ Three young Surinamese men wanted to contribute to the liberation of the Netherlands during World War II. This short documentary shows how the battlefield changed their ideals and lives forever. Their forgotten story represents that of many others. Won no less then two awards at this year’s Go Short: the Audience Award and the Youth Award. 

Mr Sun & Miss Universe (Souffien Melad, 2025) 7′ When superstar Mr. Sun notices his shiny golden locks beginning to fall out, he embarks on a cosmic journey. With the help of Miss Universe, he re-examines his relationship with transience. Graduation film for the Willem de Kooning Academy. 

Paulien (Yücel Kopal, 2025) 7′ In an attempt to be part of a popular singer’s life, superfan Paulien takes drastic measures. Featuring Isa Hoes and René le Blanc. 

Teugels (Harmen van Liemt, Tatjana Almuli, 2025) 9′ Five dancers portray the hidden inner world of young male cancer patients. This multidisciplinary short film renders visible and tangible the in-between space during illness and recovery.

Close Your Eyes Hind (Amir Zaza, 2025) 32’ After tank fire kills her relatives, the six-year-old Hind and her niece stay behind in a destroyed car in Gaza. Surrounded by tanks, they try to hold their ground. But the emergency services can only come to their aid if the army allows them to. Winner Golden Calf Best Short Film at Netherlands Film Festival.
