Now Brigitte Bardot as well (28-9-2034 – 28-12-2025), who passed away at the age of 91 on the eve of 2026.

To pause and reflect on her legacy, Lumen will screen what is perhaps her most iconic film: Le Mépris by Jean-Luc Godard.

With Le Mépris (1963), Jean-Luc Godard delivered one of the most layered and influential works of modern cinema. An elegant and melancholic reflection on art, love, and betrayal, the film effortlessly blurs the lines between commercial and auteur filmmaking. Godard’s visual language — with its breathtaking CinemaScope compositions and Georges Delerue’s unforgettable score — has inspired generations of filmmakers.

Le Mépris became a key work of the French New Wave and a timeless meditation on the tension between artistic integrity and commercial compromise. Its wistful beauty and philosophical resonance remain as compelling today as they were upon release.
