Set in the hidden corners of Queens, New York, Blue Sun Palace is a quietly devastating and deeply human portrait of love, friendship, and resilience. Chinese migrants Didi and Amy share a cramped apartment and work side by side in a run-down massage parlor, where their close bond helps them endure the harsh realities of everyday life. When Didi begins a tender relationship with Cheung, a married construction worker living apart from his family in Taiwan, their fragile sense of stability is shattered by a sudden act of violence during Lunar New Year celebrations.
In her remarkable feature debut, Constance Tsang crafts an intimate and emotionally rich story about displacement, longing, and the search for belonging.
